Krause and class,<\/p>\n<p>Hi everyone, I saw these penguins and wanted to show you pictures. \u00c2\u00a0These are rare yellow eyed penguins. \u00c2\u00a0The brown fuzzy one is a chick only 8 weeks old and the adult is a male who was just looking after his chick waiting for the mom to come home with food. \u00c2\u00a0The mom will eat the fish she gets from the ocean and regurgitates it for the chick. \u00c2\u00a0As the chick gets older then the food will change and become chunkier &#8211; this is controlled by something called enzymes that change the chunkiness (my mom helped with this part because I couldn&#8217;t remember the word). \u00c2\u00a0The other picture is of two penguins coming back in from feeding at sea. \u00c2\u00a0They can bring a kilo of food (2.2 pounds) at a time which is a lot for a little penguin to carry in their gut because they only weigh 6-7 kilo&#8217;s. \u00c2\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Yesterday we went to a blowhole called &#8220;Jack&#8217;s Blowhole&#8221;. \u00c2\u00a0This is where water comes through caves from high tide and when high tide gets really high the water is blown up into the air. \u00c2\u00a0We had to walk 15 min in from the sea to see it and we saw a lot of sheep and two were in our way in the path. \u00c2\u00a0We walked along cliffs and through sub tropical rainforest to get there. \u00c2\u00a0It was so cool. \u00c2\u00a0We also went to see a waterfall which was cool, too. \u00c2\u00a0After that we went down the road to a petrified forest that is 160 million years old from the Jurassic period. \u00c2\u00a0I&#8217;ve also included pictures of the blowhole, waterfall and the petrified forest which looks like a bunch of rocks by the sea. \u00c2\u00a0A volcano erupted and covered the forest and cooled down. \u00c2\u00a0There are rocks that look like pieces of wood. \u00c2\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>I miss you all so much but am having a great time.<\/p>\n<p>Will<\/p>\n<p>These are the pictures.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.thebirds.ca\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/01\/p1010089.jpg\" alt=\"p1010089.jpg\" width=\"600\" height=\"450\" \/><br \/>\nYellow eyed penguin chick &#8211; their eyes do not turn yellow until later (this chick is 8 weeks old)<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.thebirds.ca\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/01\/p1010115.jpg\" alt=\"p1010115.jpg\" width=\"600\" height=\"450\" \/><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.thebirds.ca\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/01\/p1010127.jpg\" alt=\"p1010127.jpg\" width=\"450\" height=\"600\" \/><br \/>\nThe adult yellow eyed penguin<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.thebirds.ca\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/01\/p1010189.jpg\" alt=\"p1010189.jpg\" width=\"450\" height=\"600\" \/><br \/>\nJack&#8217;s Blowhole near Jack&#8217;s Bay<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.thebirds.ca\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/01\/p1010193.jpg\" alt=\"p1010193.jpg\" width=\"450\" height=\"600\" \/><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.thebirds.ca\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/01\/p1010232.jpg\" alt=\"p1010232.jpg\" width=\"600\" height=\"450\" \/><br \/>\nPurakaunui Falls<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.thebirds.ca\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/01\/p1010274.jpg\" alt=\"p1010274.jpg\" width=\"600\" height=\"450\" \/><br \/>\nPetrified wood<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.thebirds.ca\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/01\/p1010277.jpg\" alt=\"p1010277.jpg\" width=\"600\" height=\"450\" \/><br \/>\nPetrified forest<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Dear Mme.
